Huon Salmon Genesys Conquer Mount Wellington – Tour Of Tas Genesys 2013

The Huon Salmon Genesys Pro Cycling Team delivered today when they conqured the 17km team time trial up Hobart’s iconic Mount Wellington. Starting last the team largely ignored the times of their rivals preferring to follow their own schedule. Pat Shaw, back in action for Tassie after missing the National Capital Tour lead the boys up the steep opening climb. He set a solid tempo without pushing too hard and dropped the boys off at the base of the mountain proper 20 seconds ahead of schedule.

Sam Davis then took over on the lower slopes before the boys pushed the pace which saw both Sam and Alex both lose contact. Jai took to the front and set about reaching the next time check. The boys reached the Springs in good shape still 20 seconds ahead of schedule and 20 seconds ahead of the Charter Mason team who were on a great ride and had overtaken their more fancied stablemates in Drapac. At 3km to go the boys opened the throttle and had increased their advantage by another minute as they hit the finish line to take another fine win. Jai wears the leaders jersey into stage 2 with the remaining jersey’s shared between the rest of the boys.
